Why are pacifiers made for babies...............?

Pacifiers are made for babies so parents in general don't have to comfort their babies round the clock (I have used them with my kids and these are the reasons why for me anyway), also it can help stop SIDS (cot death), you don't have to worry about thumb sucking (it is easier to get rid of a dummy then to get rid of a thumb), you don't have to be constantly feeding you baby because it wants comfort from suckling, it can help with settling and bed problems and I have no knowledge on how to handle a baby without a dummy, lol
